Excellent Wind Noise Isolation and Ventilation
We recently purchased the Shoei GT-Air II Helmet in Matte Black, and we couldn’t be more pleased with its performance. One of the main reasons we chose this helmet was due to a video review showcasing its exceptional wind noise isolation characteristics, and we can confirm that it absolutely lives up to the hype. Even at high speeds of 70MPH on the highway, the helmet does an outstanding job of keeping wind noise to a minimum.
Additionally, the ventilation system on this helmet is top-notch. It provides excellent airflow, allowing us to feel the breeze while riding and also has adjustable vents to control the airflow. As someone who wears hard contact lenses, it’s crucial for me to keep air from blowing directly into my eyes, and this helmet does an excellent job of keeping my eyes protected and comfortable.
Optically Correct Wind Shield and Aerodynamic Design
Another standout feature of the Shoei GT-Air II Helmet is its optically correct wind shield. It beautifully corrects the curvature of the shield, giving us a clear and unobstructed view while riding. It’s a feature we had never experienced before, but now that we have, we consider it a must-have on any future helmets.
The aerodynamic design of the helmet is also worth mentioning. It allows us to easily turn our heads and look around while riding at highway speeds without feeling like a “bubble head” or experiencing any discomfort. The helmet fits us perfectly and provides a comfortable and secure fit.
Minor Cons and Final Thoughts
While the Shoei GT-Air II Helmet has numerous positives, we did come across a couple of minor downsides. The flip-down sun visor doesn’t work as effectively as sunglasses when riding into morning sunrises or evening sunsets. However, it performs well when the sun is higher in the sky. For situations with more direct sunlight, we simply wear sunglasses along with the helmet.
Overall, we are extremely happy with the Shoei GT-Air II Helmet. Its outstanding wind noise isolation, excellent ventilation, optically correct wind shield, and aerodynamic design make it a top choice for anyone looking for a high-quality helmet. The minor cons we mentioned are easily manageable, and we highly recommend this helmet for its comfort, safety, and overall performance.

Frequently Asked Questions about Motorcycle Helmets
What are some important safety certifications to look for when purchasing a motorcycle helmet?
When purchasing a motorcycle helmet, there are a few important safety certifications to look for. Some of the common ones include DOT (Department of Transportation) certification, ECE (Economic Commission for Europe) certification, and SNELL (Snell Memorial Foundation) certification. These certifications ensure that the helmet has undergone rigorous testing and meets the required safety standards. It’s always a good idea to check for these certifications to ensure that you are making a safe choice for your ride.
How do we determine the correct size and fit for a motorcycle helmet?
When it comes to determining the correct size and fit for a motorcycle helmet, there are a few key factors to consider. First and foremost, measurement of your head circumference using a soft measuring tape is crucial. Measure around the widest part of your head, usually about an inch above your eyebrows. After this, consult the manufacturer’s size chart, which is often available on their website or product packaging. The size chart will provide a range of head circumferences, corresponding to different helmet sizes. It’s important to opt for a size that falls within your specific head measurement. Additionally, keep in mind that different helmet brands may have slightly different sizing standards, so it’s always a good idea to check the specific sizing guidelines for the brand and model you are interested in. Lastly, remember that the fit should be snug, but not uncomfortably tight, and the helmet should not shift or move once it is properly secured.
